Grade Seven

Published by under Uncategorized

Well, it is finally the end of the year and also the end of elementary school for me. I have been at Ridgeview school for my entire 12 years of life and I love the school. I’d like to thank all the teachers from Ridgeview for making elementary school the very best that it could possibly be. I have countless memories of this school and my favourite memory was going to outdoor school in grade 5. It was also the last time I would go to school with my best friend who is moving to Toronto in the summer but luckily I am going to visit him in the end of the summer. All in all ridgeview was fenomenal.

A Visit to West Van High

Published by under Uncategorized and tagged: , ,

On Monday this week the grade sevens including me and my class, took a morning field trip to West Van High because we were getting a tour of the school because that is where most of us are going to school next year for grade 8. I was paired up with Jordan and we got to tour with Matt who I know very well from playing on the same hockey teams for two years. We walked down from the school and passed by my house. We got there and we were introduced by the grade eight counsiler Mrs. Walton. We were sat down in the cafeteria which was not the nicest I have seen but it was able to do it’s job. The school is very large and nice. The teachers are also very good and the education and sports really are great too. I guess I have something to look forward to next year because that is where I am going to school next year. We went to Matt’s classroom and the teacher was great. I really liked his sense of humor. Unlike Mr. Beck he has a great personality like Mrs. Wilson and he makes going to school worthwhile. All in all I am looking forward to high school next year.

This Week

These past weeks have come on quickly after spending an awesome vaction on Maui with two of my favourite friends. In PE we’ve been starting a unit on dance and all of the moves. We got a dance week lesson from a teacher and we had to perform it to the school at the very end of the long and tiring week. Luckily I got to miss the whole performance for the Mainland hockey tournament which my team the Ice Dogs won by the way. Now we have to create our own dances and we have to perform them at the end of the unit. Ultimate frisbee has started up but I chose not to do it. We haven’t had many assignments luckily but we are doing persuasive speeches in social studies. It has been getting sunny and beautiful outside lately and at reccess and lunch breaks we have a lot of fun playing soccer against the grade fives who suck, and messing around. In math we are working on algebra witch is suprisingly easy. We haven’t had any tests yet since the break and I am counting on the teachers to lay back on the big assignments in spring because I am incredibly busy with hockey, baseball, band, piano, homework, golf, and spending time with friends. Out of that schedule I try to fit in as much time outside as possible. Mayfair is coming up soon and I am really excited for it. It is super fun and it only comes once a year. My favourite part is the tombola because of all the candy.

This Week

Today is friday and I really adore fridays because it is finally the weekend. This week we did a lot of things. In P.E. we started gymnastics which is very fun because you get to do cool things with your body like frontflips. I can also do headstands and handstands. Lots of people can’t do 540s but I can do them quite easily. We also had a subtitute for the entire week because Wilson’s ear was having problems. This week I was chosen for the ice dogs spring hockey team which is more enjoyment than anything else. I have a lot of friends on that team too so I am really looking forward to the first game. The paralympics are starting today as well. It is phenominal what they can do except they go really slow. The opening ceremonies are going to happen today and the tickets are only thirty dollars. I am looking forward to skiing tomorrow with my friends. Skiing is my second favourite sport. Not to brag but I’m good at skiing. Except I can’t do backflips. I think that snowboarding sucks. The mountains are getting lot’s of snow so the conditions are going to be awesome. I hope next week our class doesn’t get much homework like this week.

This Week

This week was quite a drag, so that means that I will really be looking forward to having a lot of relaxation time with my friends this weekend. It started off on Monday morning when I went to the Orthodontist, Dr. Hicks, to finally get my braces on. I was definately upset about that and they are really bothering me right now and they have been bothering me for the whole entire week. It feels like my mouth is full of metal restraining my teeth, but I will have nice teeth in about 18 months. the same day that I got my braces I went to my last dryland session at Hollyburn and I was worked really hard. We did tons of burpies and sprints but on our burpies we had to do a full push up. On Wednesday my team ment out to play hockey against Poco, (Port Coquitlam), and it seemed that we were ready to play with two call ups but the whole game was a complete disasterall round. I don’t even want to think about that night. Yesterday was quite boring at school, a typical Thursday with Math and L.A. in the morning. I really hope that the wikis do well and hopefully win the contest. Then I had swimming lessons at Hollyburn and after that my grandparents and I  went to the yummy pasta buffet. I enjoyed a suculent penne alfredo with shrimp. Today I was super tired in school and right now I am begging to be released into the freedom and hapiness of the weekend. I plan to have some fun with my friends today and tommorow so there is definately something to look forward to.

The Weekend

Published by under Uncategorized and tagged: , ,

This weekend was a blast! Fun was everywhere I went. The weekend started off great with a get together with some school friends to watch a movie. We ended up going to see the movie sherlock holmes, an exciting action/ mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat (most of the time because I needed to go to the bathroom), but it turned out to be one of the best movies I have ever seen because of it’s suspense and thrilling action.

On saturday I woke up at 5:30 in dread. The good part was that I was going to my hockey practice. My dad and I picked up Joey and headed to the rink. This practice was a skill session done by a dedicated coach who taught us tons about hockey. He comes every second saturday morning. After the practice me and some of my teammates went for belgian waffles in the caffeteria after playing an hour of awesome shinny. After that me and my two friends went to see the book of Eli which turned out to be another great movie. I hope every weekend could be this fun and I’m definately looking forward to next weekend.

The First Week of 2010

Getting back to school hasn’t been so pleasent. Waking up on monday I was already in a pretty bad mood because I was so tired. Returning to school was the last thing on my to do with. It meant halting all my fun and free time in Whistler to start up a working schedule. Now i’m excited for the volleyball season because I have never played a real game before but i’m pretty good. I am also so excited for the olympics. It is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to have the whole world’s eyes on your very own hometown. Now one of the controversies is will Cypress mountain have enough snow to host frreestyle skiing and halfpipe. I really hope that VANOC will sort it out and that it starts snowing.

Christmas Spirit

Published by under Uncategorized and tagged: , ,

Today the whole school participated in Christmas cracker making. All the crackers go to charity and to people in need. These people might not do much on Christmas because they are so poor, so it is important that we give them the Christmas cracker. We are giving the crackers to Grandview School, Queen Mary School, The Harvest Project, Union Gospel Mission, and The Covanent House. My class went down to our Kindergarten buddies class to help them make the Christmas Crackers. James, Jonny and I had lots of fun making crackers together. We tried to stuff the crackers to their limits so that whoever got it would be happy on Christmas. I belive that making the Christmas crackers is a great way to be nice to the less fortunate.

On Wednesday, my boys basketball team participated in the tournament at West Van high. Our first game was against Irwin Park. That was my best game. I only scored 4 points but we beat them pretty easily. Next we played against Caulfield. I have a few friends on that team so I was excited to play against them. It was quite close at the start but our team managed to jump into the lead and win the game. In the end we lost in the final but the whole basketball season was super duper fun for me.

These are the 2010 olympic mascots.

These are the 2010 olympic mascots.

This week with our buddies my class and I had fun on the olympic mascot official site. There were tons of fun games to play like Soaring Sumi, Shootout Shutout, Miga Moves, and Muk Muk recycling. We learned about all the olympic mascots including Quatchi, Sumi, Miga, and even Muk Muk. Me and my buddy were having a lot of fun and at the end we created a custom colouring page of Sumi.

This week I had my very first volleyball team game. We walked down to Hollyburn school and arrived ready to play. We performed exceptionally well and dominated them. At the end of the game we had won the majority of games and our coaches were impressed. Mission accomplished. School is not too bad right now and I love that what we are donig in Mr. Beck’s science class right now is fun and exciting expierements, but we have to write a bunch of stuff. The favourite thing for me to do right now at recess and lunch is football. I’m one of the best. I really hope next week is tons of fun.
